3 COSAS QUE HACER EN CASA PARA REFORZAR TU FASHION ENGLISH
1. Read Fashion Show Reviews
Reading blogs is great and everything, but if you really want to beef up your fashion vocabulary, read some professional fashion show reviews.
Leer blogs está bien, pero si realmente quieres reforzar tu vocabulario de moda, lee las críticas de los desfiles de moda.
Some of them can be a little hard to understand because world-renown fashion journalists — like Vogue Runway Director, Nicole Phelps — tend to use extravagant vocabulary (but that’s why I love her so much! I learn a new word every time I read her reviews).

2. Listen to a Fashion Podcast
The number one most important thing if you want to improve your level of English is to listen to English, EVERY DAY. When I say this, a lot of my students ask… «and what do you think about watching movies in English with subtitles?». If your level is really low and you want to do this to at least enjoy the movie, totally understand! But whenever possible, simply listen, don’t read. Even if you don’t understand everything, it slowly helps you improve your comprehension.
La cosa más importante que tienes que hacer si quieres mejorar tu nivel de inglés es escuchar inglés, TODOS LOS DÍAS. Cuando digo esto, muchos de mis alumnos me preguntan… ‘¿y qué piensas de ver películas en inglés con subtítulos?’. Si tu nivel es muy bajo y quieres por lo menos disfrutar de ver la película, ¡entiendo perfectamente! Pero, siempre cuando sea posible, solo escucha, no leas. Da igual si no entiends todo a la primera, te ayuda a desarrollar la comprensión poco a poco.

- Business of Fashion Podcast. I’m a big fan of BOF, can you tell? 😉 Their news content is top-notch, must-follow material, and their podcast is no different.
Soy muy fan de BOF ¿a que lo estás notando? 😉 Las noticias que crean son muy TOP y son un ‘must’ que debes de seguir; y lo mismo con su podcast.
- Fashion No Filter. I just discovered this podcast and it has a very ‘insider’ feel. They talk about things that happen in the fashion industry that you don’t really know about unless you work in the sector. The two hostesses have different accents: American and British, which is great to develop your listening!
Acabo de descubrir este podcast y tiene un ‘feeling’ muy de ‘insider’ (de alguien con información privilegiada). Hablan de cosas que solo sabrías si estuvieras trabajando en la industria. Las dos presentadoras tienen acentos diferentes: Americano y Británico, lo cual es genial para desarrollar el ‘listening’.
3. Watch British Vogue’s Future of Fashion Series
This is one of my favorite YouTube series. Alexa Chung — British writer, television presenter, model, and fashion designer — interviews several different professionals in the industry for Vogue and talks about how the fashion industry works. It’s fun, upbeat and you’ll learn a ton!

There’s the option to use subtitles (sometimes she talks a little too fast), but I have spotted some mistakes in the past with the subtitles (they’re definitely generated automatically), so make sure you check the dictionary!
